So, you're interested in becoming a basketball referee. We'd love to have you. Before you fill out the online application, there are a few things you should know. You must commit to attending the required rules and mechanics classes (see Program Requirements for dates & times). At the end of Phase 1 you will need to pass a written exam. The IAABO exam is difficult and not everyone will be able to pass with an acceptable minimum score of 86%. You will have a group of dedicated and passionate teachers to help you along the way. Please review the full description of our program by viewing the document on this screen.

Application for membership in our organization is limited to individuals who are at least 18 years old at the time of your application. You must be in good physical condition and you must reside in one of the following 7 counties; Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Passaic, Somerset, or Union. If you don't live in one of these counties, please visit the IAABO web site to find your local Board.

You can register and pay online with a credit card. You may also pay via check if you prefer. If you choose to pay by check, your check is due within one week from the time you submit the application. Please make sure you can commit to the requirements of the program before applying. Once your payment is received, you may withdraw from the program and receive a refund, minus a $50.00 processing fee, prior to the start of class.

If you understand and agree to the Program Requirements, please go ahead and fill out the online application. You must apply online if you wish to enroll in the program. Once you have registered and paid, your application will be reviewed to ensure you are eligible to become a member. Successful applicants will receive an E-mail confirmation once their application has been approved. If your application is rejected for any reason, your payment will be refunded and you will be properly notified. The application fee is $250.00.

Thanks for your interest in becoming a part of our organization!
