So, you're interested in becoming a basketball referee. That's wonderful and we'd love to have you. Before you fill out the online application, there are a few things you should know. First, classes begin in October and usually run two nights per week (Tuesday / Thursday) for approximately 2 hours (7-9 PM) , concluding in November. Classes are held at Morris Hills High School Room 158. You must commit to attending the required rules and mechanics classes. At the end of Phase 1 you will need to pass a written exam. The IAABO exam is difficult and not everyone will be able to pass with an acceptable minimum score of 86%. You will have a group of dedicated and passionate teachers to help you along the way. Please review the full description of our program by viewing the documents on this screen.
Application for membership in our organization is limited to individuals who are at least 18 years old as of Sept 1 of this year. You must be in good physical condition (as defined by your personal physician on the Physical Form) and you must reside in one of the following 4 counties; Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex, or Morris. If you don't live in one of these counties, please visit the IAABO web site to find your local Board.
Applications will be accepted through September 15 of this year. The application will allow you to register and pay online with a credit card. You may also pay via check if you prefer. Please make sure you can commit to the requirements of the program before applying. Once your payment is received, you may withdraw from the program and receive a refund, minus a $50.00 processing fee, prior to the start of class. Please make sure you read the requirements prior to applying and submitting payment. Your spot in the class is not guaranteed until we have received a properly completed application and full payment. If you choose to pay by check, your check is due within one week from the time you submit this application
If you understand and agree to the Program Requirements, please go ahead and fill out the online application. You must apply online if you wish to enroll in the program. Once you have registered and paid, your application will be reviewed to ensure you are eligible to become a member. Successful applicants will receive an E-mail confirmation once their application has been approved. If your application is rejected for any reason, your payment will be refunded and you will be properly notified. The application fee is $250.00. This covers the training program and your dues for the upcoming season. Assuming you are successful with completing the training program, you will be admitted as an active member of IAABO Board 168.
Thanks for your interest in becoming a part of our organization!
